Hospital Radio hopes for bumper bank holiday crowds

20 May 2013

Final preparations are underway for this year's Hospital Radio Colchester Fun Day, which takes place on Monday 27th May 2013 in Lower Castle Park, Colchester. The Fun Day has been a regular event for many years; however the charity was not able to hold the event last year due to the Queens Jubilee events.

Among the attractions at the event is a music stage with country star Steve Cherelle from BBC Essex, along with Lucy Leigh and Essex Duo Pure Country.

The large main arena has events throughout the day including:

There will be funfair rides, bouncy castles, go-karts, donkey rides and lots of stalls from many local charities. Plus of course hot and cold food and drink.

Entry to the event, which opens at 11.00am and runs until 4.30pm, is just £2 for adults, with accompanied children free. There is a large free car park off Cowdray Avenue.

Hospital Radio Colchester Chairman Andy Thompson said: "This is our main fund raising event of the year and we're hoping for some good weather on the day. Our aim is to provide a great value day out for all the family and this year we have plenty of things to do and see for all the family. It's always great to see the park packed with families from Colchester and the surrounding area."

"2013 is a special year for Hospital Radio Colchester as we celebrate our 50th anniversary of providing a dedicated radio service to patients in Colchester hospitals.

Staffed entirely by volunteers, Hospital Radio Colchester broadcasts to patients at the Colchester General Hospital.
