By-election to the Members' Council, February 2012

Updated 28 March 2012

Today (28 March 2012) we can announce the results of our by-election for a new governor on our Members' Council. Nomination papers to stand as a governor were sent to public members in the constituency of The Rest of Essex.

As there was only one candidate it means that David Linghorn-Baker has joined the Members' Council unopposed, without the need for voting by the public member constituents.

The Rest of Essex constituency excludes Colchester, Halstead & the Colne Valley and Tendring but includes the rest of Essex, such as Braintree, Burnham, Chelmsford, Maldon and Witham. Only public members in the constituency the Rest of Essex could stand as a governor in the by-election.

The new governor will serve on the Trust's Members' Council until April 2014. The Members' Council has 26 governors and appoints the Trust's Chair and non-executive directors. It works closely with the Board of Directors to influence decision-making and strategic planning.

Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust became a foundation trust in 2008. Previously, it had been known as Essex Rivers Healthcare NHS Trust.
