We all appreciate the little things in life. Over many years people's overwhelming generosity has meant that our patients have benefited from all types of gifts. These have enhanced patient care, enhanced the environment in which patients are treated and enhanced the lives of our staff.
If you are planning to give, whether by donating some money, your time or just by saying 'thank you', may we say thank you first.
Play CoHoC's Unity Lottery
For a chance to win up to £25,000 and many other cash prizes and to support your hospital.
We have established our own lottery with Unity - the nation's Charity Lottery. It offers a top prize of £25,000 every week together with lots of other prizes as well.
For every £1 entry, 50p comes directly to Colchester Hospitals Charity with the remainder being used to cover the prize money and a small amount for administration.

How our charitable funds are split
The Trust has a charitable fund (registration number 1051504) with 14 special purpose charities:
- Accident and Emergency Services Fund
- Administrative and General Purpose Fund
- Cancer Related Services Fund
- Care of the Elderly Fund
- Children's Services Fund
- Community Services Fund
- Diagnostic Departments Fund
- Medical Services Fund
- Obstetric & Gynaecology Fund
- Operating Theatre, Day Surgery, Recovery & ITU Fund
- Outpatient Services Fund
- Paramedical & Associated Departments' Fund
- Staff Fund
- Surgical Specialties Fund
Please state in a covering letter which of the 14 special purpose charities (above) your donation is to go to.
You may want to consider the Accident and Emergency Services Fund, which contributes to the provision of extra amenities for patients and staff in our A&E Department. Alternatively the general Staff Fund which promotes the efficient performance of their duties by the staff at those hospitals and clinics. Or there's the Special Care Baby Unit. SCBU is a sub-fund of the 'Obstetric & Gynaecology Fund', so if you would like to make a donation, please can you clearly mark this for 'SCBU'.

Click here to donate by credit or debit card. When you have made your donation you will be able to add a comment and state what the money is to be used for.
Cheques made payable to 'Colchester Hospitals Charity' should be posted to Colchester Hospitals Charity, Villa 10, Turner Road, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5JL. Please state what the money is to be used for.

Gift Aid
Gift Aid will not cost you anything. If you are a UK taxpayer, we can reclaim the basic rate of income tax on all of your donations directly from HM Customs: adding 25% to the value of your gift. Higher Rate taxpayers can claim the difference between the two rates against your own Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax liabilities. Read more about Gift Aid.
If you are donating by cheque, please download and complete our Gift Aid form and increase your donation by 25%!
How to donate through your Will
Many individuals like to make a gift in their Will to their local hospital. Gifts left to charities in a Will are exempt from Inheritance Tax. To find out more about this form of giving, please email: fundraising@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
Donations in memory of a loved one
Donations in memory of a loved one are an important and meaningful way to commemorate their life.
We will acknowledge all donations received in memory of your family member or friend.
If you are arranging a funeral and would like to ask for a donation to Colchester Hospitals Charity instead of floral tributes, our funeral collection envelopes will make it easier. The envelopes can be made available at the funeral or funeral directors and sent to friends and relatives.
