Kidney Dialysis

Dialysis is a treatment that does some of the things done by healthy kidneys. It is needed when your own kidneys can no longer take care of your body's needs.

We provide this service at Colchester General Hospital in the Primary Care Centre (map), Turner Road.

The dialysis unit is operated as a partnership of Fresenius Medical Care and the Trust.

We have capacity for 120 chronic patients to dialyse for three times per week, as well as an acute service in the main hospital and an on-call rota for emergency dialysis.

Holiday dialysis

We may be able to accommodate you but we usually ask for six weeks notice and we will require certain blood test and swab results. You will need to ask your unit's holiday co-ordinator to contact us with some basic information, i.e. dates, before we can confirm anything. The best way is to ask them to email us.

Your unit will then be sent the necessary forms to complete and we can take things from there.
