Follow this link if you are a healthcare professional wanting to find out more about our Nuclear Medicine Procedures.
Dozens of different examinations are performed in the Nuclear Medicine Department. The patient gets an intravenous injection of a minute trace of radioactive material which attaches to a certain type of molecule. Scans are obtained with a gamma camera, which unlike some other radiology devices does not itself emit radiation.
We provide this service at Colchester General Hospital and Essex County Hospital.
