Gynaecology Ward
The Gynaecology Unit at Colchester General Hospital consists of Stanway Ward (16 beds) and Gynaecological Outpatients Department.
Sister Catherine Sanderson is Ward Manager.
There are seven Gynaecology Consultants and two Breast Surgery Consultants.
The ward has direct gynaecology emergency admissions as well as elective admissions. Elective surgery is carried out every day, Monday - Friday.
Gynaecological Outpatients is run by Sister Carol Sowden.
Gynaecological Outpatients has clinics every day, Monday - Friday.
As well as the routine Gynaecological Clinics, there are a number of Specialist Clinics such as, Uro-Dynamics, Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy, Infertility, Menopause and T.O.P.
There is a Gynaecology Helpline available for patients and we have Liz Barnes who is a Nurse Counsellor/Specialist.
Sister Sanderson runs a Menopause Advice Group for staff which is held on the first Monday of every month.
