Our pathology services are provided by North East Essex and Suffolk Pathology Services (NEESPS) which is a partnership of Ipswich, Colchester and West Suffolk hospitals. This is a new arrangement which came into place from 5 May 2017 and replaces the Pathology Partnership (tPP).
Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust is the host of the service and employs all staff who work in the partnership. Our main hub laboratory is at Ipswich Hospital while Colchester General Hospital and West Suffolk Hospital have locally run laboratories that continue to provide on-site pathology services for the needs of their own patients.
Our aim is to provide innovative, high-performing pathology services which are clinically led and underpin the clinical services of our three hospitals. We have four service areas, each of which is led across all three hospitals by an appointed clinical lead. These areas are:
