Helping local couples conceive a baby

9 November 2017

People from Colchester and the surrounding areas are invited to find out about the wide range of fertility services now available locally at an event this month.

The 'Meet the Fertility Experts' event is open to all including those trying to conceive and those thinking about family planning.

The event at Ipswich Hospital will explain the hospital's partnerships with two of the country's leading fertility centres in Cambridge and London. The partnerships allow Ipswich doctors to offer a satellite IVF service giving patients the chance to start treatment at Ipswich and go on to have egg collection and embryo transfer at one of the specialist centres.

Fertility consultant Djavid Alleemudder said: “We have partnerships with the Cambridge IVF service (part of the Addenbrooke's hospital service) and Guy's and St Thomas' in London, meaning there are lots of options available to local people – both those who qualify for NHS funding, and self-funding couples.

“We will focus on fertility health and wellbeing and giving advice to people no matter what stage they are at of trying to conceive. They might be a few months into trying for a baby, they might want to know how to improve their chances before even starting to try, or they may want to plan now for a family later in life. There will also be information and advice specifically for same sex couples.

“We offer our patients minimal waiting times and good success rates. One in six couples will experience difficulty conceiving a baby – it can be a difficult journey but we are here to help.”

The event is on Wednesday 29 November, from 6.30pm, at Ipswich Hospital's Education Centre, in the Lecture Theatre.

There is no need to book. Further information is available from 01473 704236.
