The hundreds of hours given up by volunteers at our hospital were recognised at two tea parties.

The Colchester League of Friends enjoyed their annual Strawberry Tea and several volunteers were presented with long service awards by the Deputy Mayor of Colchester, Councillor Nick Cope. Among the recipients was Pauline Wilkinson, who celebrated 30 years’ service.

The League of Friends then joined volunteers from chaplaincy, hospital radio, Colchester Hospital Charity, Guides, Stroke Association, Macmillan and Breastfeeding Support Group, at a volunteers’ tea party in the PGMC Lecture Theatre.

Engagement officer for volunteer services at Colchester Hospital, Adam Fox, said: “Our volunteers make a huge difference to patients and staff, providing an additional level of support and going the extra mile every day.

“The Tea Party is our opportunity to thank them for the contribution that they make. It was great to see so many of our dedicated volunteers here enjoying themselves.”
