A stoma is the Greek word for an artificial opening. We care for patients with stomas such as Colostomy, Ileostomy and Urostomy. As a stoma care team we cover the Colchester, Clacton, Harwich and Halstead hospitals, we frequently visit nursing/ residential homes and the community.
We closely work alongside other specialist members of the Multi Disciplinary Team including the Inflammatory Bowel Disease nurse specialists / the Colorectal team / the Urology nurse specialists and the Colorectal / Urology surgeons.
The stoma care department is located in admin block south at the Colchester General Hospital.
Our working hours are from 08:00 until 16:00 Monday to Friday.
Referrals can be made via referral form for external referrals and through our contact numbers ext. 2009 Bleep 934 for ward based referrals.
