Supervisors of Midwives are experienced midwives who have undertaken additional training. Their main function is to protect the public in offering you guidance and information around your care choices and by supporting midwives in the care they provide you.
Supervisors of Midwives are directly accountable to the Local Supervising Authority by ensuring that the midwives who care for you are meeting safe standards of practice through training and education.
Where you have concerns or queries about the care you have or are receiving, you can discuss this with the on call Supervisor of Midwives, who are available 24 hours a day. We also run a de-brief clinic for women who wish to discuss their birth experience which cannot be dealt with by your named midwife.
A Supervisor of Midwives can be contacted on (01206) 747474 via the hospital switchboard and by asking for the on call Supervisor of Midwives.
