All kinds of people visit Essex County Hospital for all kinds of reasons.

Many will be visiting friends or relatives during a stay in hospital or accompanying someone to an outpatient appointment. Others will be visiting the hospital to meet colleagues, attend training courses, or perhaps to look round the hospital.

This section of the website aims to bring together all the information that visitors may find useful - whatever the reason for their visit.

At the Trust we have matrons on duty 24 hours per day. If you have a concern about nursing care received or are concerned about what you should do after being in hospital please contact one of the matrons.

Pay and Display car parking is extremely limited at our hospitals and not guaranteed. Due to the pressure on car park spaces, we would strongly encourage you to explore alternative ways of travelling to the hospital.

Trains: Colchester Town. One mile.
Buses: Traveline 0870 608 2 608.
Parking: Limited on-site parking. Tariffs apply (see menu on the left).
Below the map we detail the parking in the roads near to the hospital.

Waiting and parking restrictions in the roads around Essex County Hospital

Colchester Borough Council's advice is that car drivers must look at the relevant roadside signing to see what times the restrictions apply, but on the side that they are parking, not on the opposite side of the road where the times of the restriction may be different.

Drivers need to be aware that they can park at the unrestricted times, and in most cases this means that they can park until 12.30pm and again after 1.45pm in the marked bays.

The exceptions to those times are that only permit holders can park in Wellesley Road between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday and the Hospital permit bays in Oxford Road, again 8am to 6pm, but Monday to Friday.
